Mass Transfer Kinetics in Malodor Deodorization

Henry's Law and active aeration: why forcing air through the tablet bath moves more ClO₂ into the space, faster, than letting it seep out of a cup.

Henry's Law · active aeration

A true gas, dissolved in water

Chlorine dioxide is a true gas dissolved in water. Legacy systems rely on passive molecular diffusion, which leaves up to 20% of unreacted ClO₂ trapped in waste liquid. Reset's Active Aeration bubbler introduces high-volume air currents through the aqueous layer, stripping the gas phase in under 90 seconds and driving 100% of the active oxidizer into the space. This ensures complete saturation of deep pores, fabrics, subfloors, and AC plenums.

Henry's Law: the amount of a gas held in a liquid is proportional to that gas's partial pressure above it. Constant fresh air through the bath keeps that partial pressure near zero at every bubble wall, so dissolved ClO₂ keeps leaving the water instead of reaching equilibrium and stalling.

Passive diffusion vs. active aerationLeft: a passive cup where ClO₂ seeps slowly from the surface over hours and some stays in the water. Right: the Reset aerator pushes air bubbles through the bath, carrying the gas out in about 90 seconds.Passive diffusion2–6 hrsup to 20% left in liquidActive aeration~90 sec · 100% into the space

~90sec

To peak saturation

Forced aeration strips the gas phase out of the bath in about a minute and a half.

100%

Oxidizer delivered

The active oxidizer goes into the air volume, not down the drain with the waste liquid.

Stranded by passive cups

Diffusion-only systems can leave up to a fifth of the ClO₂ unreacted in the water.
